Our Chief Technology Officer is William (Hank) Paxton, Ph.D.

In 2013, he received his doctorate in Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University, focusing on the use of diamond structures for direct heat conversion to electricity. He also graduated from Vanderbilt University with a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (2011) and a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, and Mathematics (2009). Paxton founded IOP Technologies immediately after receiving his Ph.D. to commercialize his promising graduate research.

Since 2015, he has also worked as a Research and Development Engineer at the Conn Center for Renewable Energy Research at the University of Louisville. His research focuses on developing novel semiconducting materials, and he is an expert in reactor design. Paxton is the author/co-author of over 15 original research papers and holds multiple diamond patents and pending patents in fields ranging from energy conversion to antimicrobial surfaces.
